That seems crazy to say — I was pretty young when I started working in newspapers, so they’ve molded me in several ways, not the least of which is the coffee habit I didn’t have until I started associating with grizzled journalists!

I’ve been in all different places in this business. I’ve helmed two newspapers as editor, I’ve chased the word on the street as a general assignment reporter, and I’ve paved my own road as a freelance writer.
